Lunch at the edge of Epping Forest

Chingford sits right at the southern tip of Epping Forest, and Gina is a few minutes from it. A lot of our favourite tables come in rosy-cheeked from a walk, and we think there’s no better way to earn a Sunday roast.

Walking times are from our front door at a normal pace. Pole Hill is uphill, so give it a bit longer.

Sundays · 12–4pm

Walk first, roast after

Roasts, our daily cuts and a pudding menu that’s very much worth saving room for. Walking first and eating after is the move, but we won’t judge if you do it the other way round.

Sliced bavette steak with sauce

Wednesday to Friday · lunch

A midweek wander

Our set lunch (two courses for £24, three for £28, plus service) runs alongside the à la carte menu and the blackboard specials, and our burger is on too, while it lasts.

The forest, then

A day out since Victorian times

People have been taking the train to Chingford for a day in the forest for well over a century. A few old postcards from round here:
